Cortometraje realizado en 2006 por el ruso Alexander Petrov. La técnica utilizada por este artista es muy artesanal: óleo pintado sobre cristal en un estilo definido como realismo romántico. Tardó tres años en realizar este cortometraje.

The Old Man and the Sea

The Old Man and the Sea (El viejo y el mar) fue escrito en 1951 por Ernest Hemingway y publicado en 1952. Lo leí en inglés cuando estaba en COU (¿en la prehistoria?) y me gustó bastante. Ganó el premio Pulitzer de 1953. Luego he visto una película de 1958 que protagonizó Spencer Tracy, creo que muy acertadamente para el papel del viejo. De las varias adaptaciones cinematográficas es la que más me ha gustado. Ahora acabo de hallar esta joya de la animación, un corto del ruso Alexander Petrov, basado en la misma novela. Cada fotograma está realizado en óleo sobre cristal (¡29 mil fotogramas durante dos años y medio!).Es una increíble adaptación de la excelente novela de Ernest Hemingway. Cuenta la historia de un desgraciado pescador cubano, Santiago, que en su vejez vive un agonizante encuentro con un pez espada gigante, muy adentrado en el mar.Ganó el premio Oscar al mejor corto de animación de 1999.
